Man has always had to overcome the obstacles nature sets in his path: inaccessible peaks, cold, wind and water. But the one true challenge is to surpass ourselves and overcome our own limits. Showing that we can do it, that willpower plus adrenaline can withstand and master even the most extreme conditions: this is true victory. A challenge that never ceases to thrill and captivate: it’s for this reason that, in the 1990s, the Sector Team was born, a group of athletes who have faced incredible obstacles and have won the battle against their own limits. Incredible moments that have taken our breath away, inspiring us to aim ever higher. Today, these extraordinary challenges return with the new Sector Team, protagonist of the Sector Challenge. Six athletes who never back down, six extreme sports champions capable of dominating the elements, thanks to their adrenaline and their irrepressible talent.
We’ve chosen six different disciplines that grapple with all of the elements, from the fury of the wind and the waves to the dangers of the urban jungle. We started from great heights with snowboarding: a discipline that forces you to face the cold, the most impervious slopes, and the force of gravity. Competing against ourselves and nature, in extreme conditions. From the snow-capped peaks we moved to barren rock: it’s the challenge of climbing, a sport that demands extreme concentration and a will of steel. Taking on the fury of the water with the help of a special ally, the force of the wind, harnessing it to give life to incredible jumps and acrobatics: that’s the mission of our third showcase sport, kite surfing. Next we move back on solid ground for the fourth discipline of the Sector Challenge: biking. Just one ally, your mountain bike, and a myriad of challenges on difficult trails: a discipline that demands training, a passion for extreme challenges, adrenaline, and fearlessness. Our duel with the ocean isn’t over yet: with the fifth sport we’re back to tame and dominate the waves. Using every ounce of energy to slide smoothly over the water: this is the essence of surfing. Indispensable tools: a board and an incredible desire to outdo yourself. But nature isn’t alone in challenging us; the city, too, has its peaks and obstacles to overcome. The protagonist of this challenge is parkour, where every obstacle the city presents becomes a chance to experience it to the fullest, with jaw-dropping jumps and acrobatics. Six disciplines, one true challenge: surpass yourself. The stars of the Sector Challenge are six extraordinary athletes, one per discipline. Simon Gruber, the best Italian snowboarder two years in a row, will take on the cold and the snow to thrill us with a high-altitude challenge. Stefano Ghisolfi, Italian national climbing champion, will go to the limit and beyond as he scales the most invulnerable of rock formations. Gianmaria Coccoluto, one of the best Italian kite surfers in the world, will “fly” for us on the waves with his board. Representing biking is rider Nike Pescetto, armed with loads of determination and his trusty mountain bike. Taming the waves and always looking to go one better will be Filippo Orso, Italian surfing champion. Gian Marco Oddo, a standout in the worldwide parkour panorama, will take on the city, transforming its obstacles into opportunities.
